W. James Steen CFP®, MSFS

Jim is a partner and financial advisor with Prosperity. He began his career in financial services more than 44 years ago, after serving in the U.S. Navy and teaching high school math and science. He is passionate about helping clients develop and implement personal investment and financial planning solutions geared toward building wealth and achieving their goals. He specializes in retirement planning and wealth preservation strategies for individuals, families, and business owners. Jim adheres to the fiduciary standard in all client relationships and is a strong proponent of full disclosure.

Jim holds a Bachelor of Science degree in science and chemistry from the University of Rochester.

Throughout his career, Jim has served both his profession and the Dayton community in numerous capacities including several roles with the Dayton Rotary Foundation and the Dayton Red Cross. He has been on the steering committee for Caring Cetera, a non-profit that supports local communities in times of natural disaster, since its inception. Jim also served as an arbitrator for the National Futures Association.

Jim lives with his wife, Cheryl, and their dog, Spirit, in Clayton, OH. Jim and Cheryl are active in their church and support various ministries and missionaries both here and abroad. Jim enjoys golf, bowling, and skiing (both kinds). The couple also greatly enjoys traveling but their favorite thing is to sit on the shore of a lake watching the sunset. Oh, and they “kind of” like the Buckeyes!
