Brett is the Chief Investment Officer at Prosperity Advisors and a partner of the firm. As CIO, Brett leads the investment team and supervises research and development activities, provision of investment strategies, and management of client portfolios. Brett began his career as a CPA® with a Big Four accounting firm focused on tax planning solutions for individual clients before transitioning to the wealth management industry. Prior to joining Prosperity, he worked for 13 years at Tortoise Capital, a Kansas City based institutional asset manager. While at Tortoise Capital, Brett served as a portfolio manager overseeing equity and fixed income investment strategies.
Brett is passionate about investing and creating unique portfolio solutions for clients. His driving love for investments comes from the enjoyment of the challenge the stock market provides. This passion led him to shift his focus to investment management, where he gained experience with two wealth management firms prior to coming on board with Prosperity.
Brett earned his bachelor’s degree in accounting and finance from Kansas State University.
Brett grew up in the Kansas City area and attended Blue Valley North High School where he played football, basketball, and baseball. He and his wife, Sarah, have two girls, Madi and Ella, and two crazy dogs, Teddy and Bailey. Relaxing and having fun with his family is how Brett makes the most of time away from the office. You can also find Brett on the golf course or watching his favorite sports teams - Royals and Chiefs - during his free time.
Fun fact: Brett and Sarah are both "only children" in their families, so while their girls have a sibling, they don't have any aunts, uncles or cousins.
