National Cybersecurity Awareness MonthSubmitted by Prosperity Advisory Group on September 27th, 2019
Each and every one of us needs to do our part to make sure that our online lives are kept safe and secure. That's what National Cybersecurity Awareness Month (NCSAM) – observed in October – is all about!
Each October focuses on different themes addressing specific challenges and identifying opportunities for behavioral change.
Under the overarching theme of ‘Own IT. Secure IT. Protect IT.’, the 16th annual National Cybersecurity Awareness Month (NCSAM) is focused on encouraging personal accountability and proactive behavior in security best practices, digital privacy and draw attention to careers in cybersecurity.
The line between our online and offline lives is indistinguishable. In these tech-fueled times, our homes, societal well-being, economic prosperity and nation’s security are impacted by the internet. You can visit StaySafeOnline to learn more about this year's theme and how you can stay safe online.
If you’re so inclined, we’re also including the Consumer Action’s Location Tracking and Data Collection report which examines location data use by internet service providers, social media companies, food delivery apps, car companies, wearable technology and employers. The report focuses on the collection and use of consumer location data by various industries. The report examines who has access to our location information, how the data is used, whether our location is shared with others, and what, if any, control we have over tracking and sharing.
Don't be caught off guard or unaware ... practice better security awareness. And use NCSAM as a motivation to do so.
